FLEA PITS AND PICTURE PALACES: CINEMA GOING IN BRIGHTON AND HOVE. “We look with sheer nostalgia at cinema and cinema-going from the 1890s when film was first shown in the Pandora Gallery on Brighton seafront, to the Rock’N’Roll of the 1950s, when audiences danced in the aisles of the Savoy and Astoria.
