A Cornish cinema is in the running to be named the best in the country.
Savoy Cinema Penzance has been shortlisted for a prestigious national industry award in the category of cinema of the year.
The award is judged on the cinema’s performance, growth and commitment to the cinema industry, but the competition is tough, including Odeon’s LUXE at Leicester Square.
Films started showing at the Savoy Cinema in November 1912.
There has been no break in its function as a cinema ever since, having never succumbed to television, video or bingo – making it one of the oldest continuously operating cinemas in Britain.
