Lisa Drew aims to raise £1,000 to help save the historic Curzon Cinema from closure and will set off with her friend Sian Elston, from the Bristol Hippodrome at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday). The duo will walk through the city centre before entering North Somerset’s countryside through Long Ashton, Nailsea and then on to Clevedon where they hope to make the 4.30pm screening of A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon at the cinema, in Old Church Road.

Lisa said: “I’ve been a part of the Curzon Cinema for more than five years.

“It is a huge part of the community and I wanted to help raise funds to support the roof restoration appeal and keep the cinema open for years to come for everyone to enjoy.

“An Edwardian dress seems like a great way to raise awareness and boost my fundraising efforts.

“We’re looking forward to the day but know we will be exhausted when we get to the Curzon, especially carrying a collection bucket with us.

“We hope people will come and see us along the way, toot their car horns when they spot us or even join us for the film screening at the end to celebrate.”

The roof repairs fundraising total stands at £397,000 and last month, the grade-II listed cinema was successful in its bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund and gained £239,900 towards the roof replacement.
