Alibaba lands major AI chip client: Chinese state media CCTV revealed that China Unicom, the country’s second-largest wireless carrier, has signed on to deploy Alibaba’s in-house AI chips (branded as Pingtouge or “T-Head” accelerators) in a massive new data center.
