Founded in 1934, Fujifilm initially created photographic film for a burgeoning amateur and semi-professional photographic market. Alongside its competitor Eastman Kodak in America, the brand largely dominated the 20th century film production industry, as well as branching out into producing other image-making equipment like photocopiers, scanners and industrial printers.

As the 20th century progressed and the need for the creation of film dwindled, many large corporations, including Fujifilm, turned its attention to the creation of digital cameras.
