Kent Museum of the Moving Image announces new Production Design exhibition.

This autumn brings a significant new exhibition – Production Design: Film’s Most Invisible Art, featuring unique and rare original and donated materials from Oscar-winning designer Terence Marsh, his mentor John Box, and his British design contemporaries. The exhibition showcases tools and references used in various films, including a painstakingly reconstructed model and design for the famous set of Aqaba in Lawrence of Arabia. The exhibition will expand into sections on the early years of film design, new directions, and Dickens and Film Design over the next two years. Illuminating film clips will be included.

Other exhibitions at Kent MOMI include World War I on Film and in the Media, which explores attempts to capture modern warfare on film during and after the war, and Peeping and Projecting, which delves into 19th-century magic lantern dissolving views and world-in-a-box peepshows. The museum’s permanent exhibition, 35,000 Years to Catch a Shadow, traces the evolution of visual representation from prehistoric times to the cinema era.

Kent MOMI is open Fridays to Sundays and bank holidays from 11am to 6pm. Ticket prices for under 16s are £4 each, and for students of 16+ are £6. Group bookings can be arranged for guided tours by the curators.

Kent MOMI is a registered not-for-profit community interest company located at 41 Stanhope Road, Deal, Kent, CT14 6AD, United Kingdom.
