Shanghai-London Forum Strengthens Sino-British Creative Ties, Showcases Global Storytelling

The 3rd Shanghai-London Screen Industry Forum took place at BAFTA in London, facilitating collaboration between Chinese and UK screen industries. Organized by Phoenix TV with support from the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism and the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, the event included keynote speeches, panel discussions, and screenings. Notable speakers included Robi Stanton from BBC Studios and Amanda Halliday from Pinewood Group, with actor ZHANG Luyi sharing insights on cross-cultural storytelling. The forum featured discussions on global storytelling and presentations by companies such as Stellar Pictures and Tencent Video, showcasing future projects and co-production possibilities. This annual event remains a vital platform for fostering innovation and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The 3rd Shanghai-London Screen Industry Forum convened at BAFTA in London, bringing together key players and emerging creatives from the Chinese and UK screen sectors. Hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism and supported by the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, the event was organized by Phoenix TV. It featured keynote speeches, presentations, trailer screenings, and panel discussions aimed at exploring new avenues for collaboration.

Distinguished attendees included Rupert Daniels from the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, Adrian Wootton OBE of Film London & British Film Commission, and LI Liyan from the Chinese Embassy in the UK, among others. The forum was chaired by Jasmine Pang of Phoenix TV.

Keynote addresses were delivered by industry figures such as Robi Stanton of BBC Studios, Amanda Halliday of Pinewood Group, and Jason ZHANG of Stellar Pictures. A fireside chat with Chinese actor ZHANG Luyi provided insights into creative development and cross-cultural narratives.

Presentations and trailer screenings were conducted by representatives from production and distribution companies like Stellar Pictures and Tencent Video, highlighting upcoming projects and co-production opportunities. A panel discussion titled “How to Tell Global Stories across East and West” explored the creation of content that resonates internationally, featuring participants like Rosemary Reed of POW TV Studios.

The forum continues to be an essential annual event, fostering innovation, partnership, and cultural exchange between China and the UK.
