US cinema executives want historic Milton Keynes cinema preserved – BBC News

The Point, the UK’s first purpose-built multiplex cinema, faces demolition to make way for new flats as developer Galliard Holdings Ltd’s appeal to replace the site was approved. Charles J. Wesoky and Millard Ochs, key figures in The Point’s history, have written to Milton Keynes Council urging the preservation of the cinema’s legacy. Despite calls for preservation through a monument or museum display, Historic England has stated that The Point falls short of listing criteria and has been granted a Certificate of Immunity until 2026. The council is in discussions on the matter and considering legal options.
