Designs for the redevelopment of a site in Cambridge – which includes the Hobson Street cinema – have been released. Current proposals would see the cinema demolished and the site, which stretches between Hobson Street and Sidney Street, redeveloped into office and community space. The cinema closed in 1972 and operated as a bingo hall until 2009 but has been unoccupied since – apart from three days when it was occupied by squatters.
