Keighley’s Picture House, a historic cinema, faces an uncertain future as efforts continue to ensure its preservation. Initially set for auction by Bradford Council, the sale was halted after Keighley Town Council expressed interest in purchasing the property, despite discovering structural issues that require attention. The situation saw a positive turn when the cinema’s owner, Charles Morris, was honored with an MBE for his contributions to cinema in the region. Mayor Chris Herd has reaffirmed the commitment of both councils to collaborate on resolving the building’s challenges and securing its future, with updates expected soon.
