Modesto’s State Theatre celebrates its 70th birthday

with a two-day open house, plus classic cartoons and a classic film, “It Happened One Night,” winner of the Best Picture Academy Award for 1934. Admission is free to the open house. Cartoons will be playing and popcorn will be free. And, every hour on the hour, the theater staff will lead brief tours of the projectionist booth and the backstage area.
