Toady, Barco has announced that they have teamed up with digital cinema solution provider GDC Technology to combine GDC’s Integrated Media Block with Barco’s cinema projectors, the DP-2000 and the DP-3000. Both of these projectors feature DLP display technology, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and a 2K HD (2048 x 1080) resolution. “We are very happy to continue our strong partnership with Barco, and to offer the digital cinema industry a total solution with an integrated media block” said Dr. Man-Nang CHONG, founder and CEO of GDC Technology. “The GDC media block has been designed to meet the DCI v1.2 Specification ‘Media Block in Projector Configuration and supports 12-bit XYZ uncompressed playback for resolutions up to 4K. It further features lesser perimeter of security for content and keys compared to an external media server solution and requires less cabling between the media block and storage server.” Barco plans to display the projectors with the new IMB this week at the CineAsia convention from December 8th to the 10th.
