THE 700-strong group is about to make its biggest format change in a century. THE Independent Cinema Association of Australia has completed a deal to bring full digital systems to its 700 member cinemas, in a move its president Mark Sarfaty calls “the most important change in cinema exhibition in 100 years”. “It’s true, this is bigger than [the introduction of] sound,” Sarfaty says. “This is the biggest thing since film because the film industry is no longer about film, it’s about a digital form.
