Digital Cinema Grows Under New Pact

In a move that dramatically accelerates the transition to digital cinema, Carmike Cinemas, the nation’s third-largest theater circuit, has contracted with AccessIT’s Christie/AIX subsidiary to install 2,300 digital projection systems in theaters throughout the U.S. Under Monday’s agreement, Christie/AIX will begin installing 2K DCI-compliant DLP Cinema projectors in Carmike’s theaters in January, with the rollout to be completed by Oct. 31, 2007.
