Digital cinema is on the move. Ever since DCI announced its technical standards and specifications on July 27, 2005, manufacturers, distributors, exhibitors and, most importantly, assorted financiers have started talking business. Within the past few months in particular, bits and bytes began banding together to shape a more concrete picture of where d-cinema is headed. With all due respect to initiatives in other parts of the world, this overview is nonetheless centered on North America. After all, Hollywood studios are setting the pace by consenting to supply digital prints to the emerging networks there.
