Steve Pike’s favourite film is Cinema Paradiso. How could it not be? It tells the story of a child, growing up in Italy, who forms an important friendship with the local cinema’s projectionist, who in turn teaches the boy to operate the projector. A love letter to the cinema, it echoes Mr Pike’s life. Although in his case, the projectionist was his mother.
