Way back in 2007, Charlie Brooker–who went on to gain worldwide fame by writing the incredible Black Mirror series–explained on his cult British TV show Screenwipe that fans of video games who discuss them in any detail to people who love movies, TV or food are “automatically branded a sad, spotty, nerdo, geek virgin with all the cultural sensibilities of a spoon.

”Luckily, things have come a long way in 14 years–if anything, it appears that the global cinema industry is looking for a much-needed cash injection from those gamers its traditional, hardcore audiences have spent years rolling their eyes at.
