Considering Hyper Cinema

The 39th annual SIGGRAPH convention recently held at the Los Angeles Convention Center and featured 161 exhibitors who were showing the latest in animation and effects technology. The show also featured a number of presentations and panel discussions. One of the most sought-after was the packed panel on higher frame rates – High Frame Rate Cinema: Impacts on Art and Technology – that offered a look at the challenges and rewards of filming and projecting beyond the standard 24fps, something many in Hollywood are now calling hyper cinema.
