Cygames acquires Japanese animation, VFX, and motion capture company credited on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Ninja Gaiden 4

Pretty Derby and Granblue Fantasy developer Cygames has announced the acquisition of domestic 3DCG and VFX company Griot Groove, effective May 1, 2026. Cygames has acquired all of the latter’s shares, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.

With a 31-year history and around 100 employees, Griot Groove is a company with experience across film, video games and commercial production, specializing in realistic modelling and animation.
