The alternative content industry is getting organized. It’s even undergone a rebranding, with some in the business preferring the term “event cinema” now.
“‘Alternative content’ is meaningless in the industry,” Melissa Keeping, chairman of the Event Cinema Association, explained to me at CinemaCon last month, adding that the phrase is even more meaningless to a wider audience.
