A former Scout leader has been found guilty of sexually abusing children over four decades.

James Morris, also known as Ian Phipps, was found guilty at the Manukau District Court on Tuesday of 14 charges of doing indecent acts on five children. He was found not guilty of two charges

As the verdicts were handed down, Morris stood, staring straight ahead.

Some of the charges date back to the late 1970s when Morris was a scout leader in Mt Albert, Auckland.

Later, after leaving the Scouts, the now 67-year-old went on to abuse children at the cinemas where he worked, his car, his home and at a restaurant.
