Some Victorian cinemas and gyms were so keen to open again, they organised midnight sessions for the moment the latest easing of coronavirus restrictions came into effect.
“A lot of people have been calling out locally for us to reopen,” Michael Smith from Sun Theatre in Yarraville, in Melbourne’s inner west, said.
“Both residents who live locally and love coming to the cinema, but also other members of the village — people with cafes, restaurants, gift shops — who rely on people coming to the cinema to frequent their businesses.”
