The developer Anthology/Lifestory group which is owned by the giant Canadian $475bn Brookfield Asset Management company has had its appeal for planning permission to build 258 units in Kennington, South London dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate.

The developer’s proposal involved building a 29-storey tower block and lower mansion block on a back-land site in Kennington in a predominantly low rise and urban area which used to house the Woodlands nursing home.

The scale and design of the scheme were rigorously scrutinised and challenged by many in the community and attracted a large amount of public interest and opposition.
