Canterbury’s regional council has bought two ornate heritage buildings that form part of a central Christchurch “Dirty 30” site.

The property, comprising the damaged Odeon Theatre and Lawrie and Wilson buildings plus empty land, was sold as-is by the Crown at auction on Thursday. The price was $2.95 million.
