The town’s Reel cinema has received funding from the British Film Institute (BFI) as part of the government’s culture recovery fund.

As part of £5 million in grants awarded by BFI, Reel Cinemas, which runs the site in the centre of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, will receive £1,500,000 to support its 13 multiplexes across the country,

BFI says the funding will be crucial to the economic and cultural recovery of the communities the cinemas serve, after they had to shut due to lockdown.
