Sony has introduced a new camera to its cinema range of full-frame cameras which will be available from March 2021.

Sony has officially announced the latest addition to the Cinema Line, the FX3 camera, which combines features of Sony’s Alpha mirrorless camera line-up with digital cinema technology.

You can see the Alpha influences as soon as you look at the FX3 as its body is very similar to the Sony Alpha A7C design with an added deep grip that provides stability when capturing footage.

There’s a 10.2 megapixel full-frame back-illuminated CMOS Exmor R sensor and BIONZ XR image-processing engine built-in along with Fast Hybrid Auto Focus, Touch Tracking (real-time tracking), 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisation and Real-time Eye AF – all found on the Sony Alpha cameras.

Other features include 4K 60p recording, ultra-high sensitivity with ISO expandable to 409,600, 15+ stops of dynamic range, S-Cinetone which gives footage a cinematic look without post-processing and “Active Mode” image stabilisation which supports handheld movie shooting.
