Acherished quartet of Toronto repertory movie houses in the Festival Cinemas group is set to close on June 30, but while the fate of the Kingsway, Paradise and Revue theatres appears sealed, there’s hope for patrons of the Royal on College Street. Specifics have not been finalized, but there is a possible deal to sell the Royal to an owner who plans to restore the art deco building, transforming it into a post-production film facility by day and continuing to operate it as a neighbourhood theatre by night.
