A new contract for the construction of the East Square cinema and restaurants project has been awarded after the former main contractor fell into administration. Former build contractor Simons Group went into administration at the end of October but work to construct the scheme will start on schedule in the coming weeks as McLaren Construction was selected as the preferred bidder and officially awarded the contract at a meeting of the council’s Town Centre Revival Committee on Tuesday evening.
