Today, scientists are studying the carbon-fixing mechanism of cyanobacteria to reverse some of the damage humanity has done to the earth’s atmosphere. Scientist-turned-filmmaker Erin Espelie’s time-lapse video series Refresh—which opens up a unique view into the lives of these microscopic heroes—is now on display at the Expedition Health exhibition of the Denver Museum of Nature.
